Jeanette makes the shot heard round the world

Jeanette raced end to end to hit the winning basket with .1 second left to send Stanford to the Final Four where we play Oklahoma at 4PM PST on Easter Sunday.

Oklahoma finished 3rd in the Big 12, and has a record of 27-10 overall. They started 10-2 after the graduation of the Paris Twins, and also lost sharp shooter Whitney Hand in game 5 to a season ending injury. The Sooners then went 13-8 before the NCAAs, where they are 4-0. Every loss has been to a team than just played or in the case of Baylor and UConn, are still playing in the NCAA tournament.

The Sooners are led by 5-9 Jr and former Mitty star Danielle Robinson who is averaging 16.6 points per game and 5.3 assists per game. She has only 2 threes on the year, but does shoot 46% from the floor. And a very key stat, Robinson is good for 87% from the free throw line.

Nyeshia Stevenson is the other guard, a 5-10 Sr. She is the only three point threat, 86 on the year, at 33%. She is averaging 14.5 points per game, so more than a three point shooter.

Amanda Thompson is a 6-1 Sr Forward scoring 13 points per game, shooting 41% from the floor. Thompson is the team’s leading rebounder, 10.6 per game.

Abi Olajuwon is the Center, a 6-4 Sr. She is averaging 11 points and 7 rebounds pr game. She is shooting 50% but plays just 22 minutes per game. 6-3 Frosh Joanna McFarland is the other Center, 4 points and 4 rebounds in 15 minutes per game.

At the wing are two players Carlee Roethlisberger, a 6-1 Jr and Jasmine Hartman a 5-10 Soph. Roethlisberger has started 18 games and averaging 7 points and 4 rebounds and 24 minutes per game. Hartman has started 14 games and averages 20 minutes, 2 points and 2 rebounds.

Thompson, 30 points and 25 rebounds
Olajuwon, 26 points and 17 rebounds
Robinson, 31 points, 13 assists and 12 turnovers.

Sheri Coale is in her 14th season as the coach, having come to restart the program after it had been dropped by the Administration.
