Stanford: 6-1.
Beat Northeastern in Cancun 74-45. Erica McCall had 27 points and Karlie Samuelson scored 18 on 6 threes.
Beat Wichita State in Cancun 87-39. Shannon Coffee was 5 for 5 for 13 points and Nadia Fingall also 5 for 5 for 11 points.
Beat Purdue in Cancun 78-69. McCall had 16 points, 12 rebounds and was named Tourney MVP. Samuelson had 20 points, 6 of 8 from three. Brittany McPhee had 22 points.

Lost to Gonzaga 68-63. For Gonzaga Jill Barta was 8 of 10 and 3 of 3 from three for 26 points. Ellie Tinkle was 8 of 13 for 18 points. Brittany McPhee had 22 points and 8 rebounds and Erica McCall had 17 points and 11 rebounds. Stanford shot just 38% and only 17% from three.
Beat Cal State Northridge 88-54. McCall lead with 17 points. Off the bench Nadia Fingall had 14 points in 16 minutes and Shannon Coffee had 8 points in just 7 minutes.

Pac 12 Preview: Cal

Pac 12 Preview: Cal

Last Season: 15-17 overall and 4-14 in conference play.

The Coaches:
Lindsay Gottlieb is in her 6th year as Head Coach at Cal after 3 years as Head Coach at UCSB and two years before that as the lead Assistant at Cal.
Charmin Smith with 2 degrees from Stanford returns for her 10th season at Cal and is now the Associate Head Coach.
Kai Felton is back for her 6th year at Cal. Kai has been an Assistant at Oregon, 2 years, and at USC, 5 years.
Jeff Cannon is in his 2nd year at Cal, coming from five years as an assistant at Long Beach State.

Losses: Gabby Green transferred to Loyola Marymount. Last season Green averaged 5 points and 5 rebounds per game and was a close 2nd on the team in assists.


Additions:
Jaelyn Brown is a 6-1 Frosh Wing from SoCal. Brown was ranked # 39 last season. She tore her ACL before her Sr year and was born with club feet so she has overcome a lot.
CJ West is 6-4 frosh Center from Bakersfield. West was ranked # 48. Has two siblings and they also went to college on athletic scholarships.
Mi’Cole Cayton is a 5-9 Guard from St Mary’s of Stockton ranked # 78. Cayton had committed to Nebraska but de-committed when the Coach left under pressure.
Sara Anastasieska Is a 5-11 Soph Guard who will sit out this season after transferring from Texas San Antonio. She scored 5 points per game last season.


The Schedule: Cal plays St Mary’s, Nebraska and Oklahoma all on the road. Cal plays the Washington schools only away and the LA schools only at home.


The Team:
Kristine Anigwe is a 6-4 Soph Center. Last season she averaged 20 points and 9 rebounds. The down side was almost 4 turnovers per game, but a year’s experience should solve that. Anigwe was ranked as high as 13 out of HS and was a McD All American.

Mikayla Cowling is a 6-2 Jr Forward who scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds per game. Cowling made 39 threes at a team high 39%.

Courtney Range is a 6-3 Sr who scored 13 points and had 6 rebounds per game.

Asha Thomas is a 5-4 Soph Guard. Thomas averaged 8 points and 4 rebounds per game.

Penina Davidson is a 6-3 Jr Post or Wing. Last season she averaged 6 points and 4 rebounds per game.

MaAne Mosley is a 5-11 Soph Wing. Mosley is from Oakland and ranked as high as 69 and in the 100-150 range by the other services. This past season she averaged 3 points and 2 rebounds per game.

Chen Yue is a 6-7 Frosh Center from China. Yue is pretty much an unknown having played just 46 minutes last season before an injury sidelined her.
KC Waters is a 6-2 Sr post who hasn’t played much.


Predictions: Well for sure much better than last season.

Pac 12 Preview: Oregon State

Pac 12 Preview: Oregon State

Last Season: 32-5, 16-2 Pac 12 Champions and a Final 4 team. It’s the 2nd straight Pac 12 Championship for the Beavers and they ended the season ranked # 2 in the Nation.


The Coaches:
Scott Rueck is in his 7th year and has been an outstanding coach, turning the then lowly Beavers into a Final 4 team.
James Chatterton is in his 3nd year. Eric Ely is in his 7th year.
Sharon Rissmiller moves from Director of Operations to an interim position as Assistant Coach. She was Head Coach at Pacific of Oregon for 7 years.

Losses: Jamie Weisner is a huge loss after leading the Beavers to their 2 straight Pac 12 Championships. Weisner averaged 17 points and 6 rebounds last season. Jamie also made 77 threes at 44%.

Another big loss is 6-6 Center Ruth Hamlin who averaged 12 points, 10 rebounds and almost 4 blocks per game.
Deven Hunter is the 3rd started to have graduated. Last season Hunter averaged 6 points and almost 6 rebounds per game.

Samantha Siegner played in every game averaging 2 points and 2 rebounds.



Additions:
Tarea Green is a 6-4 Redshirt Frosh Center. Green was ranked # 45 out of HS and should have a bright future.

Mikayla Pivec is a 5-10 Frosh Guard ranked # 24 out of HS. Pivec was recruited heavily by Stanford and choose Oregon State. She was 4th in the State of Washington 800, 4th in the 1600 and won the State Javelin. An outstanding athlete, Pivec was the State of Washington Gatorade Women’s Basketball Player of the Year.

Kat Tudor is a 6-0 Frosh Guard and maybe the best three point shooter in HS this past season. Kat made 371 Threes in HS at 43%.

Madison Washington is a 6-1 Forward from Las Vegas.

Janessa Thropay is a 6-2 Forward from Southern California.



The Schedule: The Beavers play Marquette and BYU and in a December tourney in Las Vegas. The Beavers play the Washington schools only at home and the Arizona schools only on the road.



The Team:
Sydney Wiese is a 6-1 Sr Guard and the team leader. Wiese averaged 13 points, hitting 66 threes at 36%, down from 42% as a Jr. She also averaged 5 assists per game. Wiese is a three time All Pac 12 player.

Gabriella Hanson is a 5-11 Sr Guard who averaged 8 points last season. Hanson has played on 4 different Swedish National Youth teams during the summer. She’s a former teammate of Stanford’s Bri Roberson.

Katie McWilliams is a 6-2 Soph Guard who averaged 3 points last season but could have a break out season. Katie was ranked as high as # 40 nationally out of HS.
