The Results of the Past Week

The Pac 12 Tournament starts Wednesday, March 7 in LA and runs for four days. The first 2 days are at USC’s Galen Center and the final 2 days are in the Staples Center. The top 4 teams in the standings have a bye Day 1 while the other 8 teams play to advance to Day 2 against the top 4 teams.

On Day 1, March 7th it’s 8 vs 9, 5 vs 12, 7 vs 10 and 6 vs 11.

On Day 2, March 8th, it’s # 1 Stanford vs the Winner of the 8 vs 9 game. This game is at Noon. Then it’s Seed # 4, vs the winner of the 5 vs 12 game. The third game is Seed # 2, Cal, vs the winner of the 7 vs 10 game. Finally it’s Seed # 3 vs the winner of the 6 vs 11 game.


1. Stanford 26-1, 17-0. Beat Colorado 68-46. Nneka scored 23 points while Chiney scored 18. Nneka also had 11 rebounds. Stanford had 15 turnovers in the first half, 19 overall.

Beat Utah 69-42. Nneka with 15 points and 5 blocked shots. Jos had 12 points and 9 rebounds. Chiney with 16 points, 12 rebounds and a world class Sr Day speech as a tribute to Nneka.

2. Cal 22-7, 13-4. Beat Utah 60-46. Strange stats for Cal, only 10 turnovers, excellent, only 4 assists, poor. Layshia Clarendon scored 15 points. Talia Caldwell scored 13 and had 11 rebounds.

Beat Colorado 64-43. Clarendon scored 15 points with 4 assists. Brittany Boyd had 7assists and scored 11 points.

3. USC 16-11, 10-6. Beat Arizona 78-62. The Trojans out rebounded the Wildcats by 18. Stephanie Gilbreath had 18 points, 3 of 3 from three. Briana Gilbreath with 14 points and 9 rebounds, Cassie Harberts with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Ashley Corral with 17 points, 3 of 5 from three and 5 assists. 335 fans braved the sunshine to attend. Great that the Pac 12 tournament is catering to this fan base.

Beat ASU 59-53. Christina Marinacci scored 12 points and had 10 rebounds.

4. Oregon State 18-9, 9-7 Beat Oregon 69-53, outscored the Ducks 28-12 at the end. Patricia Bright scored 14 points and had 5 blocked shots giving her 95 blocks for the season and a new school record. Earlysia Marchbanks had 19 points and 9 rebounds but 7 turnovers.

4. UCLA 14-13, 9-7. Beat ASU 53-38. Markel Walker had 21 points, 11 rebounds and 9 turnovers. Post Corrine Costa left after just 3 minutes with an undisclosed injury. That left UCLA with 6 scholarship players.

Beat Arizona 72-58. The Bruins are now playing with 6 scholarship players and a walk on who played 5 minutes. Yet they won by 14. The Bruins out rebounded the Wildcats by 10 but had 18 turnovers, 8 more than the Wildcats. Walker had 17 points and 12 rebounds. Rebekah Gardner scored 21 points, 3 of 3 from three. Sister Rhema Gardner had 12 rebounds. Frosh Kacy Swain had her best game with 14 points and 7 rebounds.

6. Arizona State 19-9, 9-8 Lost to UCLA 53-38. Janae Fulcher scored 16 points the rest of the team 22 shooting 9 for 35.

Lost to USC 59-53. Deja Mann scored 22 points, 4 of 4 from three.

7. Washington 14-11 7-9 Beat Washington State 60-56. Regina Rogers scored 21 points as did Jazmine Davis. Rogers also had 9 rebounds.

8. Utah 13-14, 6-10. Lost to Cal 60-46. Utah played without their Point Guard Janita Baden. Iwalani Rodriquis scored 23 points. Taryn Wicijowski scored 17 and had 11 rebounds. Michelle Plouffe had only 4 points and 4 rebounds but 8 turnovers in 40 minutes.

Lost to Stanford 69-42. Wicijowski scored 15 points. Played again without Badon.

8. Oregon 14-14 6-10 Lost to Oregon 68-53. The game at Oregon drew 3600. Oregon was 7 of 34 from three. Amanda Johnson had 13 points and 10 rebounds.

10. Colorado 16-11, 5-11. Lost to Stanford 68-46. Chucky Jeffrey had 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Lost to Cal 64-43. Jeffery scored 18 points and had 7 rebounds.

11. Washington State 12-16 4-12 Lost to Washington 60-56. Brandi Thomas scored 15for the Cougars.

12. Arizona 14-15, 3-14. Lost to USC 78-62. Erica Barnes had 20 points for the Wildcats.

Lost to UCLA 72-58. Candice Warthen scored 17, 3 of 4 from three. It’s been a very disappointing season for the Wildcats.

The Pac 12 This Past Week

1. Stanford 24-1, 15-0. Beat Oregon State 78-45. Stanford with 10 of 22 threes, 5 of 9 by Sara James and Bonnie Samuelson. Nneka with 27 points, Jos Tinkle with 14rebounds. Stanford had only 7 turnovers, only one was unforced.

Beat Oregon 81-46. Stanford wins the 1st Pac 12 Title. Only 6 turnovers for the Card. Jos scored 19 points, and 10 players scored while six players hit a three. Nneka had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

2. Cal 20-7, 11-4. Beat Oregon 83-71. This could be the Cal future as Layshia Clarendon was 10 of 18, 5 of 8 from three for 27 points, and 5 assists. Brittany Boyd took only 7 shots but had 8 assists and only 3 turnovers. Cal shot 47% and 10 of 20 from three.

Beat Oregon State 75-68. Afure Jemerigbi was 4 of 4 from three for 12 points. Cal made 20 more free shots than the Beavers and attempted 27 more. 22 points for Clarendon, 49 for the week.

3. Arizona State 19-7, 9-6 Beat Washington 47-41. Poor shooting and many turnovers in this game but why did the Huskies get held to only 41 points? 16 blocks by the Sun Devils led by a school record 9 by Kali Bennett. Bennett added 10 points and 9 rebounds, just missing a triple double.

Beat Washington State 47-42. Alex Earl scored 11 points and Kali Bennett had 5 blocks in a game where neither team could shoot over 31%.

4. USC 14-11, 8-6. Beat UCLA 66-54. Cassie Harberts scored 26 points and had 9 rebounds. Briana Gilbreath scored 10 points and had 12 rebounds. The two teams combined for 45 turnovers, 24 by USC.

5. Oregon State 17-9, 8-7 Lost to Stanford 78-45. Nice crowd of 2500 in Corvallis. Alyssa Martin scored 11 points.

Lost to Cal 75-68. Earlysia Marchbanks with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Patricia Bright with 5 blocks and Sage Indendi with 16 points including 4 of 6 from three.

6. UCLA 12-13, 7-7. Lost to USC 66-54. Rebekah Gardner scored 18 points and Markel Walker scored 16 points but UCLA shot only 27%. Walker also had 13 rebounds.

7. Utah 13-12, 6-8. Beat Colorado 61-56 in Overtime. All the starters played at least 39 minutes and 4 of them scored 13-16 points each.

8. Oregon 14-13 6-9 Lost to Cal 83-71. The Ducks were 12 of 27 from three, but out rebounded by 16. Amanda Johnson was just 3 of 11 for 11 points, both Jasmin Holliday and Ariel Thomas scored 13 points. Frosh Volleyballer Liz Brenner added 12 points.

Lost to Stanford 81-46. The Ducks shot just 25%.

8. Washington 14-11 6-9 Lost to ASU 47-41. 24 Turnovers and the Huskies added to their woes shooting 29%. 13 points, 11 rebounds and 6 turnovers for Regina Rogers.

Beat Arizona 68-59. Rogers scored 22 points. Mollie Williams had 13 rebounds. Jazmine Davis scored 17 points and the Huskies out rebounded the Wildcats by 12.

10. Colorado 16-9, 5-9. Lost to Utah 61-56 in Overtime. Chucky Jeffery had 15 points and 8 rebounds. Jen Reese had 8 points and 11 rebounds.

11. Washington State 12-15 4-11 Lost to Arizona 90-51. The Cougars shot just 26% and were out rebounded by 18. Brandi Thomas scored 14 points.

Lost to ASU 47-42. Sage Romberg scored 11 and Jazmine Perkins had 8 points and 13 rebounds.

12. Arizona 14-13, 3-13. Beat Washington State 90-51. The Wildcats shot 53% in stopping their 8 game losing streak. Plus they were 11 of 21 from three. Erin Butler scored 21 points and was 5 of 8 from three. Shanita Arnold had 9 assists. Davellyn Whyte scored 19 points and added 11 rebounds and 6 assists. The Wildcats had 29 assists on 34 made baskets. Great teamwork.

Lost to Washington 68-59. Arnold had 19 points, white 16 points. The Wildcats shot just 30%.

The Pac 12 This Past Week

1. Stanford 22-1, 13-0. Beat USC 69-52. Chiney had 21 points, 12 rebounds and 6blocked shots. Nneka had 22 points and 8 rebounds. Stanford shot 49%.

Beat UCLA 82-59. Nneka had 25 points and 8 rebounds. Chiney scored 19 points on 7 of 7 from the floor. Jos Tinkle 10 points and 9 rebounds. Stanford shot 59%.

2. Cal 18-7, 9-4. Beat UCLA 67-58. The Bears out rebounded UCLA by 14 but had 25 turnovers, 9 more than the Bruins. Reshanda Gray scored 17 points and had 14 rebounds. Brittany Boyd had 14 points and 8 assists but 11 turnovers.

Lost to USC in Overtime 76-75. Gennifer Brandon had 22 points and 17 rebounds.

3. Oregon State 17-7, 8-5. Beat WSU 51-39 for their 5th straight win. Thais Pinto who I have never mentioned scored 12 points and had 7 rebounds.

Beat Washington 78-73 for their 6th straight win. Mollee Schweger came off the bench to hit 4 of 6 threes and score 15 points. Five players scored 12 – 15 points as the Beavers shot 52%. Earlysia Marchbanks scored 15 and had 11 rebounds.

4. UCLA 12-12, 7-6. Lost to Cal 67-58. Markel Walker scored 18 points, Rebekah Gardner scored 16.

Lost to Stanford 82-59. Markel Walker had 16 points and 10 rebounds. UCLA shot 34%

4. Arizona State 17-7, 7-6 Lost to Utah 50-46 Deja Mann led with 12 points. ASU had 19 more shots than Utah but shot only 30%.

Beat Colorado 60-47. Janae Fulkcher was 7 of 9 from the field for 16 points. Alex Earl scored 14 points, 9 fro 9 from the free throw line.

4. USC 13-11, 7-6. Lost to Stanford 69-62. USC shot only 29%. Ashley Corral and Brianna Gilbreath each had 11 points.

Beat Cal in Overtime 76-75. Ariya Crook had a breakout game with 21 points, including all 11 USC Overtime points. Crook was 8 of 12 from the floor including 3 of 4 from three. Briana Gilbreath scored 21 points and Christina Marinacci had 13 rebounds.

7. Oregon 14-11, 6-7. Lost to Washington 72-69. Amanda Johnson scored 26 points, 4 of 9 from three, and added 12 rebounds. Johnson did have 6 turnovers.

Beat WSU 67-62. Johnson had 23 points, 4 of 9 from three.

Lost to Oregon State 78-73. Davis scored 20 points, 4 of 8 from three. Rogers scored 16 points and had 7 rebounds. The Huskies shot 47%.

Beat Arizona 73-67. Plouffe had 22 points and 12 rebounds. Taryn Wicijowski scored 20 points. Together they shot 13 of 20 from the field and the Utes shot 49% overall.

12. Arizona 13-12, 2-11. Lost to Colorado 69-59. With turnovers and poor rebounding, Colorado took 17 more shots than Arizona.

Lost to Utah 73-67. Davellyn Whyte scored 22 point with 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Whyte was 4 of 5 from three. Erica Barnes had 17 points.

1. Stanford 20-1, 11-0. Beat ASU 62-49. Nneka had 22 points and 16 rebounds while Chiney had 20 points and 16 rebounds. Stanford shot only 38% and had 18 turnovers but out rebounded the Sun Devils by 24.

Beat Arizona 91-51. Jos Tinkle had 22 points, 3 of 4 from three, and had 11 rebounds. Nneka had 15 points, Chiney 18 points and 10 rebounds. Stanford
shot 50%. Amber Orrange had 10 points, 5 of 5 from the floor.

2. Cal 17-6, 8-3. Beat Arizona in Overtime 78-74. Reshanda Gray had 22 points, 8 of 11 shooting and 13 rebounds. Talia Caldwell had 17 points, 7 of 10 and 10 rebounds. Brittany Boyd had 16 points, 6 assists and 6 turnovers.

Beat ASU 67-62. Brittany Boyd scored 19 points and had 6 assists and TEN steals. Layshia Clarendon scored 16 points and Gennifer Brandon pulled down 13 rebounds.

3. UCLA 11-10, 6-4. Beat Washington in Overtime 79-73. UCLA was down 7 with 50 seconds left and tied the game, winning in Overtime. Markel Walker had 16 points, 14 rebounds, 7 assists and 8 turnovers. Rebekah Gardner scored 17 points and had 9 rebounds. Corrine Costa had 13 points and blocked 7 shots.

Beat Washington State 73-52. Walker had a triple double (almost a quad) with 14 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists and 8 turnovers. Rebekah Gardner had 21 points and 8 rebounds. The Bruins out rebounded the Cougars by 24 but had 22 turnovers, 10 more than the Cougars.

4. Oregon State 15-7, 6-5. Beat Colorado 65-45. The Beavers shot 45% and had 15 steals. Ali Gibson scored 12 points on just 4 shot attempts.

Beat Utah 62-49. Earlysia Marchbanks had 22 points and 10 rebounds. The Beavers shot 52% and had only 10 turnovers. Patricia Bright Blocked 7 shots.

4. Arizona State 16-6, 6-5 Lost to Stanford 62-49. Kali Bennett had 9 points, 9 rebounds and 6 blocked shots. She set the Sun Devil season record for blocks.

Lost to Cal 67-62. ASU shot 48% but were out rebounded by 15 and had 21 turnovers. Bennett scored 13 points but had 7 turnovers.

4. USC 12-10, 6-5. Beat Washington State 67-62. The “crowd” was 336 at the Galen Center. Cassie Harberts scored 19 points and Christina Marinacci had 10 rebounds. Brianna Gilbreath scored 14 points in 23 minutes.

Lost to Washington 67-61. The weekend attendance at USC was less than 1,000 for the 2 games. Something for the AD to think about. Ashley Corral had 19 points, 5 of 11 from three and 5 assists. Cassie Harberts had 12 points and 11 rebounds. The Trojans shot just 24% in the 2nd half.

7. Oregon 13-10, 5-6. Beat Utah 72-67. Amanda Johnson had 19 points and 12 rebounds. Nia Jackson also had 19 points. The Ducks out rebounded Utah by 17.

Beat Colorado 67-62. Johnson is really back with 26 points and 8 rebounds.

8. Washington State 12-11, 4-7. Lost to USC 67-62. April Cook scored 18 points, 4of 4 from three. Jazmine Perkins had 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Lost to UCLA 73-52. Perkins and Cook each had 13 points. The Cougars shot
only 28%.

11. Utah 10-12, 3-8. Lost to Oregon 72-67. Taryn Wicijoski had 19 points and 9 rebounds. Janita Badon scored 17 points and had 9 assists.

Lost to Oregon State 62-49. Wicijowski scored 16 points and had 10 rebounds. Michelle Plouffe scored 17 points and had 10 rebounds. The Utes shot only 31% as the two mentioned players combined for 12 for 38 from the floor.
