The Results of the Past Week

The Pac 12 Tournament starts Wednesday, March 7 in LA and runs for four days. The first 2 days are at USC’s Galen Center and the final 2 days are in the Staples Center. The top 4 teams in the standings have a bye Day 1 while the other 8 teams play to advance to Day 2 against the top 4 teams.

On Day 1, March 7th it’s 8 vs 9, 5 vs 12, 7 vs 10 and 6 vs 11.

On Day 2, March 8th, it’s # 1 Stanford vs the Winner of the 8 vs 9 game. This game is at Noon. Then it’s Seed # 4, vs the winner of the 5 vs 12 game. The third game is Seed # 2, Cal, vs the winner of the 7 vs 10 game. Finally it’s Seed # 3 vs the winner of the 6 vs 11 game.


1. Stanford 26-1, 17-0. Beat Colorado 68-46. Nneka scored 23 points while Chiney scored 18. Nneka also had 11 rebounds. Stanford had 15 turnovers in the first half, 19 overall.

Beat Utah 69-42. Nneka with 15 points and 5 blocked shots. Jos had 12 points and 9 rebounds. Chiney with 16 points, 12 rebounds and a world class Sr Day speech as a tribute to Nneka.

2. Cal 22-7, 13-4. Beat Utah 60-46. Strange stats for Cal, only 10 turnovers, excellent, only 4 assists, poor. Layshia Clarendon scored 15 points. Talia Caldwell scored 13 and had 11 rebounds.

Beat Colorado 64-43. Clarendon scored 15 points with 4 assists. Brittany Boyd had 7assists and scored 11 points.

3. USC 16-11, 10-6. Beat Arizona 78-62. The Trojans out rebounded the Wildcats by 18. Stephanie Gilbreath had 18 points, 3 of 3 from three. Briana Gilbreath with 14 points and 9 rebounds, Cassie Harberts with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Ashley Corral with 17 points, 3 of 5 from three and 5 assists. 335 fans braved the sunshine to attend. Great that the Pac 12 tournament is catering to this fan base.

Beat ASU 59-53. Christina Marinacci scored 12 points and had 10 rebounds.

4. Oregon State 18-9, 9-7 Beat Oregon 69-53, outscored the Ducks 28-12 at the end. Patricia Bright scored 14 points and had 5 blocked shots giving her 95 blocks for the season and a new school record. Earlysia Marchbanks had 19 points and 9 rebounds but 7 turnovers.

4. UCLA 14-13, 9-7. Beat ASU 53-38. Markel Walker had 21 points, 11 rebounds and 9 turnovers. Post Corrine Costa left after just 3 minutes with an undisclosed injury. That left UCLA with 6 scholarship players.

Beat Arizona 72-58. The Bruins are now playing with 6 scholarship players and a walk on who played 5 minutes. Yet they won by 14. The Bruins out rebounded the Wildcats by 10 but had 18 turnovers, 8 more than the Wildcats. Walker had 17 points and 12 rebounds. Rebekah Gardner scored 21 points, 3 of 3 from three. Sister Rhema Gardner had 12 rebounds. Frosh Kacy Swain had her best game with 14 points and 7 rebounds.

6. Arizona State 19-9, 9-8 Lost to UCLA 53-38. Janae Fulcher scored 16 points the rest of the team 22 shooting 9 for 35.

Lost to USC 59-53. Deja Mann scored 22 points, 4 of 4 from three.

Next Games: March 3 at Arizona


7. Washington 14-11 7-9 Beat Washington State 60-56. Regina Rogers scored 21 points as did Jazmine Davis. Rogers also had 9 rebounds.

Next Games: March 1 USC, TV, March 3, UCLA, TV


8. Utah 13-14, 6-10. Lost to Cal 60-46. Utah played without their Point Guard Janita Baden. Iwalani Rodriquis scored 23 points. Taryn Wicijowski scored 17 and had 11 rebounds. Michelle Plouffe had only 4 points and 4 rebounds but 8 turnovers in 40 minutes.

Lost to Stanford 69-42. Wicijowski scored 15 points. Played again without Badon.

8. Oregon 14-14 6-10 Lost to Oregon 68-53. The game at Oregon drew 3600. Oregon was 7 of 34 from three. Amanda Johnson had 13 points and 10 rebounds.

10. Colorado 16-11, 5-11. Lost to Stanford 68-46. Chucky Jeffrey had 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Lost to Cal 64-43. Jeffery scored 18 points and had 7 rebounds.

Next Games: March 1 Oregon, March 3 Oregon State


11. Washington State 12-16 4-12 Lost to Washington 60-56. Brandi Thomas scored 15for the Cougars.

Next Games: March 1 at UCLA, March 3 at USC


12. Arizona 14-15, 3-14. Lost to USC 78-62. Erica Barnes had 20 points for the Wildcats.

Lost to UCLA 72-58. Candice Warthen scored 17, 3 of 4 from three. It’s been a very disappointing season for the Wildcats.
