Results of the Week

1. Stanford: 13-1, 2-0 ranked # 4
Beat Oregon 96-66 holding the Ducks to 40 points below their season average. Chiney with 33 points and 14 rebounds. Amber Orrange with 8 assists and no turnovers. Bonnie Samuelson was 6 of 9 from three for 21 points in only 17 minutes.

Beat Oregon State 89-67. Chiney named Pac 12 Player of the week with 31 points, including a number from 15-17 feet and 13 rebounds and a career high 6 assists. Lili Thompson with her career high 19 points and also 5 assists with zero turnovers. Taylor Greenfield with 13 points. Stanford was 7 of 10 from three and 19 of 35 from three for the weekend.
Against Top 25: 3-1
Biggest surprise: Lili Thompson. Lili is a frosh averaging 7 points per game as the starting 2 Guard and back-up point guard.

1. USC: 10-5, 3-0
Beat UCLA 56-54. Ariya Crook scored 25 points, 21 in the first half.
Beat Colorado 55-45 as the Trojans held the Buffs scoreless over the last 4 minutes. Cassie Harberts had 19 pints and 9 rebounds.
Beat Utah 55-47 scoring the last 16 points of the game. Harberts had 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Against top 25: 1-3.

Biggest Surprise: Winning the last 5 in a row, after a poor start.

1. Cal: 10- 3, 2-0 Ranked # 19
Beat Oregon State 72-63 with a late spurt keyed by several steals for baskets by Brittany Boyd. Boyd scored 25 points and had 7 steals and 7 rebounds.

Beat Oregon in Overtime 101-98. Two great finishes for the Bears to win very tight games. Rashanda Gray with a career high 33 points and also 13 rebounds. Boyd with 17 points and 9 assists but 7 turnovers. Gennifer Brandon returned with 9 points and 8 rebounds in 22 minutes. Mikayla Lyles was 4 of 4 from three for 12 points.

Beat ASU 85-78 behind 27 points by Lia Galdeira.
Beat Arizona 61-59. 16 points for Gladeira and 14 for Tia Presley.

Biggest Surprise: Playing a tough schedule, 4 top 10 teams and beating 2 of them.

5. Colorado 11-2, 1-1 Ranked # 17
Lost to USC 55-45, as USC scored the last 13 points. The Buffs shot only 28%.

Beat UCLA 61-59, reversing the previous game as the Buffs out scored the Bruins to the end 18-7. Jen Reese had 15 points.

Against top 25: 1-1

Biggest Surprise: Defense and rebounding. Opponents are shooting only 35% and the Buffs have a 10 rebound per game advantage.

5. Arizona State: 12-1, 1-1 Ranked # 23
Beat Syracuse 63-60. 15 points and 12 rebounds by Kelsey Moos and 14 points, 10 rebounds by Joy Burke. Syracuse was ranked # 20.

Lost to Washington State 85-78 in Pullman. Washington State shot 50%. Moos with 17 points and Sophie Brunner with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Beat Washington 78-60. ASU was 11 of 21 from three. 10 players played 13 or more minutes, CTT is really back,  and five of them scored 10-12 points each.
Against top 25: 2-0
Biggest surprise: Two frosh Kelsey Moos and Sophie Brunner. Neither a top 100 player but both in the starting line up from about Day 1. Moos is averaging 9 points and 6 rebounds while Brunner is at 8 and 6.

Beat UC Irvine 72-69. Kelsey had 25 points, 6 of 11 from three. Talia Walton had 14 points and 17 rebounds.

Beat Arizona 55-52. Plum with 23 points and Aminah Williams with 13 points and 16 rebounds.

Lost to ASU 78-60. Jazmine Davis with 23 points and Plum with 16.

Against Top 25: 0-1

Biggest Surprise: Katie Collier was an outstanding player in HS but first cancer then an ACL has held her to just 6 points and 15 minutes per game.

8. UCLA: 7-8, 1-2
Lost to USC 56-54. Atonye Nyingifa scored 20 points.
Beat Utah 55-38 holding Utah to 27% shooting. Nirra Fields scored and 21 and Nyingifa had 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Lost to Colorado 61-59 outscored down the stretch by 11. Fields scored 23 and Nyingifa had 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Against top 25: 1-3

Biggest Surprise: Injuries. Two will miss the season, and now another is out. Two have played very little, and another is awaiting her debut as she recovers. That’s six players who either haven’t played or played little.

Lost at Cal 72-63, despite being within a point with 2 minutes to play. Jamie Weisner Had 22 points and 11 rebounds.

Lost at Stanford 89-67. Weisner had 13 points and Sydney Wiese had 15 points. Weisner 3 of 7 from three and Weise 4 of 8.

Against top 25: 0-2

Biggest Surprise: Frosh Sydney Wiese. Ranked from 56-80 and Player of the Year in Arizona, Wiese has averaged 13 points per game and hit 42 three at 45%.

Beat UCSB 66-57 without Michelle Plouffe. Emily Potter had 16 points

Lost to UCLA 55-38 with Plouffe back playing. The Utes shot just 27%.

Lost to USC 55-47 as Plouffe had 15 points.

Against top 25: 0-1

Biggest Surprise: Utah is averaging 5 turnovers a game more than their opponents leading to just 64 points per game.

Lost to Stanford 96-66. Jillian Alleyne had a great game with 26 points and 13 rebounds. However the rest of the team shot about 20%.
Lost to Cal in Overtime 101-98. Alleyne with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Chrishae Rowe had points, Ariel Thomas 21 and Lexi Peterson had 20 points.

Against top 25: 0-1

Biggest Surprise: Unheralded frosh Chrishae Rowe is averaging 23 points and 7 rebounds per game as the league’s top frosh.
