Stanford comes home in first place

Stanford starts a four game homestand first with the Arizona schools, then with the LA schools and climaxed with a reunion of the 1990 NCAA Championship team.

1. Stanford 7-0, 17-1.

Beat Oregon State 63-47. Kayla with 23 points. Jeanette off the bench with 6 assists. Jos Tinkle with 6 blocks.

Beat Oregon 100-80 with Nneka breaking Nicole Powell’s single game rebound record as she grabbed 23 to go with 30 points. Jayne had 17 points, Kayla 11 rebounds, JJ had 6 assists, Ros 5 assists and Jeanette 6 assists. Jeanette scored 15 with 5 three’s, JJ and Ros both hit a pair of threes. Stanford made 13 threes and had 26 assists on 35 made shots.

2. USC 6-1, 12-6

Beat Washington 69-65. Ashley Corral hit 5 of 7 threes and scored 19 points and also had 6 assists. Kari LaPlante tied a career high with 13 pints. Arrika Hughes was 3 of 5 from three for 10 points. The Trojans made 11 of 20 threes. Mr Cooper was polite after the game.

Beat Washington State 61-51. Brianna Gilbreath scored 17 points and had 11 rebounds. Ashley Corral was held to 10 points but she also had 7 assists. Arrika Hughes had 8 points and 9 rebounds.

3. UCLA 5-2, 12-6

Beat Washington State 59-56 as Jasmine Dixon scored 23 points. Dixon also had 8 rebounds. UCLA had 23 turnovers and made only one three, but the Bruins held the Cougars to 29% from the floor.

Beat Washington 69-65 behind Jasmine Dixon’s 25 points. Doreena Campbell added 21 points as UCLA shot 50% from the floor. Interesting for those who follow the assists stat, the Bruins had only 5 assists, but still shot 50%. Dixon also had 9 rebounds.

4. Cal 4-3, 10-8

Beat Oregon 72-62. The Bears shot just 40% and were only 3 of 16 from three, but out rebounded the Ducks by a huge margin, 23. Alexis Gray-Lawson scored 19. Eliza Pierre had 5 assists and 5 steals. Talia Caldwell had 13 rebounds, 9 offensive.

Beat Oregon State in two Overtimes 79-75 behind Gray-Lawson’s School Record 47 points. She was 13 for 31from the floor, 4 of 7 from three and 17 of 20 from the free throw line. Gennifer Brandon had her third double, double, 11 points and 11 rebounds.

4. ASU 4-3, 12-6

Beat Arizona 73-67. Becca Tobin had 19 points and 9 rebounds, while Kayli Murphy had 9 points and 11 rebounds. Danielle Orsillo scored 16 points and Tenaya Watson had 14 points, 4 steals and 4 blocked shots.

6. Arizona 3-4, 9-8

Lost to ASU 73-67. Ify Ibewke scored 25 points and had 16 rebounds. Davellyn Whyte scored 22 points.

6. Oregon 3-4, 12-7

Lost to Cal 72-62. Taylor Lilley had 16 points, 4 of 7 from three. Nicole Canepa scored only 6 points after going off for 38 in her last game.

Nia Jackson had a career high of 26 points, Cocks scored 17 and Lilley 4 of 8 from three and 16 points.

8. Washington 3-5, 8-10

Lost to USC 69-65 in a heartbreaker as the Huskies out rebounded the Trojans by
16. But USC’s 11 threes turned the tide in the loss. Sami Whitcomb scored 22 points and had 11 rebounds. Sami also had 8 turnovers. Kristi Kingma scored 19 points.

Lost to UCLA 69-65. Whitcomb had 16 points and 4 assists while Laura McLennan game off the bench to score 14 points.

9. Oregon State 1-6, 9-8

Lost to Stanford 63-47 despite Talisa Rhea’s 27 points. The Beavers were only out rebounded by 3. Rhea 27, the other Beavers, 20 points.

Lost to Cal in Double Overtime 79-75. Rhea scored 25 points, almost half from the free throw line. Rhea also had 5 assists. Kate Lenz gave off the bench to score 12 points and El Sara Greer had 11 rebounds.

10. Washington State 0-8, 5-14

Lost to UCLA 59-56. April Cook scored 19 points and made 3 threes, as the Cougars were 7 of 21 from three, but made only 9 non threes, shooting 29% overall. Jasmine Perkins had 16 points, including 3 threes. Katie Madison had 9 rebounds.

Lost to USC 61-51. The Cougars continued their very poor shooting, 27% in this game and 8 for 31 from three.
