Pac 12 Preview: Oregon State

Last Season:
27-5 and 16-2 in the Pac 12 where the Beavers won the Pac 12 season Championship. In the NCAAs the Beavers beat San Diego State then lost to Gonzaga. Ellie Tinkle had 14 points and 7 rebounds in that game for Gonzaga.


The Coaches:
Scott Rueck is in his 5th year and has been an outstanding coach.
James Chatterton is in his 2nd year. Eric Ely is in his 5th year. Mandy Close is in her 3rd year and an excellent recruiter.

Losses:
Ali Gibson is the Beavers only loss. She started every game and averaged 9 points.


Additions:
Tarea Green is a 6-4 Frosh Center. While Green is not a top 100 player she could have a bright future.
Taylor Kalmer is a 5-8 Frosh Guard. Kalmer averaged 19 points per game as a HS Sr. She was outside the top 100.
Katie McWilliams is a 6-2 Frosh Guard, ranked as high as # 40 nationally. McWilliams is a true Guard despite being 6-2. Nice three point shot and an excellent passer.

The Team:
The Beavers return all but one player as mentioned, Ali Gibson.
Sydney Wiese is a 6-1 Jr Guard and the team leader. Wiese averaged 13 points, hitting 92 threes at 42%. She also averaged close to 6 assists per game with a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio which is very good.
Jamie Weisner is a 5-10 Sr Guard who averaged 14 points per game to lead the Beavers. Weisner made 73 threes at 42% and averaged 6 rebounds.
Ruth Hamblin is a is 6-6 Sr Center who averaged 13 points, almost 9 rebounds and almost 4 blocks per game.
Devin Hunter is a 6-3 Sr Forward who averaged 8 points and 8 rebounds per game.
The four listed above started every game last season for the Beavers.
Gabriella Hanson is a 5-11 Jr Guard who averaged 7 points in 24 minutes. Hanson has played on 4 different Swedish National Youth teams during the summer. She’s a former teammate of Stanford’s Bri Roberson.
Samantha Siegner is a 6-3 Sr Forward who averaged 3 points and 4 rebounds in 15 minutes.
Marie Gulich is a 6-5 Soph Center from Germany who averaged 3 points and 3 rebounds in 11 minutes. Marie was the top rebounder and shot blocker on Germany’s 20U team this past summer.
Breanna Brown is a 6-3 redshirt Soph Forward who sat out last season. Brown was ranked as high as $ 49 out of HS. As a frosh two years ago she averaged 3 points and 2 rebounds in 8 minutes.


Predictions:
Very experienced, loads of talent and picked to win the Pac 12 by all the coaches.
