Arizona: Davellyn Whyte was selected 16th overall in the WNBA draft, going to San Antonio. Sean LeBeauf was added to the coaching staff to replace Brady Manning who moved to USC. LeBeauf’s last 4 years were as both the Women’s Head Coach and the Athletic Director at Paris, TX, JC. Before that he was a Men’s assistant at Southern University. And for the 7 years before that he coached High School and Travel boys and girls.
ASU: The Sun Devils signed two players in the April period. Breanna Burton comes from Western Texas JC. Burton is from Los Angeles and scored 12 points per game over the past 2 seasons. She is a Point Guard. Quinn Dornstauder is a 6-3 Canadian Post player who was the 4th leading rebounder is last year’s 17U World Tournament. She will be a Frosh.
CAL: Layshia Clarendon was the 9th pick, the highest Cal player ever, in the WNBA draft. She is with Indiana.
Colorado: Chuck Jeffery was the 12th pick in the WNBA draft going to Minnesota.
Oregon: Well they keep Paul Westhead as the Head Coach. That would be news after going 4-27.
Oregon State: Ruth Hamlin and Jamie Weisner will be trying out with the Canadian SR National Team. Hamlin was on last year’s 18U team.
Stanford: Amber Orrange has been invited to the University Team Tryouts.
USC: The Trojans have a new Head Coach, Cynthia Cooper Dyke was named the new Head Coach replacing Michael Cooper, no relational. Cooper-Dyke was an All Conference player at USC and on 2 National Championship teams, 1983 and 1984. She is in the USC, the Women’s Basketball and the Naismith Hall of Fames. Cooper-Dyke was a Head Coach for the past 8 years at Texas Southern, UNC Wilmington and Prairie View. She also was Head Coach for the Phoenix WNBA team.
Evan Uhrau, former Stanford staffer, remains on the Staff as an Assistant. Brady Manning comes from Arizona to join the Trojans. Julah Woods, a former USC player comes from San Diego State to round out the new Staff.
Cassie Harberts has been invited to try out for the World University team. Jordan Adams was invited to the 19U tryouts. Both have been on National teams in the past.
UTAH: The team is presently on a 10 day trip thru Denmark, Sweden and Nrway.
Michelle Plouffe, Taryn Wicijowski, and incoming frosh Emily Potter have been invited to the Canadian Sr National Team tryouts.
UCLA: Nirra Fields has been invited to the Canadian National Sr Team tryouts.
Washington: In a big surprise Head Coach Kevin McGuff resigned to go to Ohio State and was replaced by Head Assistant Mike Neighbors. Neighbors came to Washington from Xavier with McGuff and has been an assistant hat several top schools. Assistant Kevin Morrison is now the Associate Head Coach and assistant Adia Barnes will also stay. Fred Castro joins the staff from Tulsa. All players are staying and all recruits are coming to Washington.
Washington State: Lia Gladeira has been invited to the 19U trials.
