Pac-12 Comings and Goings for 2021-22

 Comings and Goings in the Pac-12 for 2021-22

This story is about those who have moved on from Pac 12 schools or are coming to Pac 12 schools, including both athletes and coaches.    I have not listed those who played four years and are not returning for their “free” year.

First of two parts.    

Arizona:

Coming:  Sam Thomas 6-0 Forward averaged 7 points and 3 rebounds shot 39% from three, returning for her 5^th season.   Anna Gret Asi, PG Estonia,   Madison Conner, G, from Arizona, Ranked 71,      Gisela Sanchez 6-3 Wing from Spain,    Aaronette Vonleh, 6-3 Post from Oregon, Ranked 100.   Taylor Chavez Jr Guard from Oregon.    April Phillips returns as an Assistant Coach.  Erin Grant comes from USC as an Assistant Coach.   Ariyah Copeland from Alabama averaged 14 points and 8 rebounds.  

Going:  Marta Garcia Frosh Forward, she played 5 games.   Tara Manumaleuga Soph PG, she played 9 games to TCU..    Mara Mote Jr Guard scored 5 points for the season.    Assistant Coach Tamisha Augustin has moved to Mississippi State as an assistant.   Assistant Jackie Nared to Oregon.  

 

ASU:

Coming:  Jade Melborne, PG Australia,   Meg Newman, 6-3 Wing Indiana, Ranked 33,   Jade Loville 5-10 Jr Guard from Boise State who averaged 17 points.     Ayzhiana Basallo a 5-5 PG Grad transfer from San Jose State, where she averaged 18 points and 4.6 assists as a Jr shooting 45% from three.  SJS had they schedule cancelled after only 4 games this season.   Yvonne Sanchez joins the staff as an assistant coming from U of Michigan, before Michigan she was the Head Coach at New Mexico.  Mael Gilles, 6-1 Sr is from Rutgers where she averaged 8 points and 4 rebounds.     

Going:  Syndei Caldwell Soph Guard averaged 4 Points.   Eboni Walker Soph Wing averaged 7 points and 5 rebounds to Syracuse which has had 12 players leave.    Associate Head Coach Angie Nelp is the new Head Coach at Tulsa.  

 

Cal:

Coming:  Jada Curry PG from CA, Jadyn  Bush 5-11 Wing Grad transfer from Harvard.   

Going:  Assistant Coach April Phillips has returned to Arizona

 

Colorado:  

Coming:  Mya Hollingshed returning for Year 5 averaged 15 points and 8 rebounds.   Kennedy Taylor, 6-3 Post from Kansas,  Kendyll Wetta, PG from Colorado, Ranked 82.   Tamieka Sadler Frosh transfer from Washington, Guard averaged 10 points.   Quay Miller Soph  Post averaged 10 points and 6 rebounds

Going:  Zuzanna Kuinska Soph Guard averaged 2 points to McNesse State. Raanee Smith to Sam Houston State, she played 8 minutes on the year.   Madison Buford to Hampton, she played 71 minutes for the year.  

 

Oregon:

Coming: Taylor Bigby 6-1 Guard from Las Vegas, Ranked 29,   Phillipina Kyei, 6-8 Post from Canada.   Jackie Nared Hairston from Arizona as an assistant Coach

Going:  Jaz Shelly Soph Guard to Nebraska , Taylor Chavez Jr Guard to Arizona.  Both Shelly and Chavez averaged 4 PPG.   Associate HC Mark Campbell is now the Sacramento State Head Coach, Assistant Xavier Lopez to Sacramento State.  Taylor Mikesell Jr Wing who averaged 9 points to Ohio State.  Mikesekk started at MD so may have to sit out a year.

 

Oregon State:

Coming:  Great Kampschroeder 6-0 Frosh Wing from Illinois.   Ellie Mack Forward who averaged 7 points returns for her 5^th year.   AJ Marotte, 6-0 Wing will be a frosh decommitting  from Washington.    AJ was ranked # 63.   Tea Adams is a grad transfer from San Diego State where she averaged 10 points.   

Going:  Sasha Goforth Soph Wing averaged 11 points to Arkansas.   Jasmine Simmons Jr Guard returned to Australia averaged 3 points.   Savannah Samuel So Guard averaged 3 points to West Virginia .   Assistant Brian Holsinger is now the Head Coach at Montana.   Assistant Katie Faulkner to Washington.  

 

Stanford:

Coming:  Brooke Demetre, 6-3 Wing from SoCal,  Ranked 11,  Kiki Irifan, 6-3 Forward from SoCal, Ranked 19,   Elena Bosgana, 6-2 Wing from Greece,  Jzaniya Harriel, 5-10 Guard from NorCal, Ranked 78.

Going:  Maya Dodson who opted out this season to Notre Dame.

 

UCLA:

Coming:  IImar’l  Thomas 5-10 Wing a Grad transfer from Cincy.  She averaged 23 points last season and was the league POY.    Natalie Chou back for her 5^th year.   Chou averaged 10 points, 4 rebounds and shot 38% from three.   Jaelynn Penn (5-10 SR wing From Indiana, grad transfer, she averaged 9 points and 5 rebounds.    Gina Conti is a Grad Transfer from Wake Forest, a 5-10 Guard who averaged 14 points and appears to be another Point Guard.

USC:   

Coming:  Clarice Akunwafo, 6-6 Post from SoCal, Ranked 21,   Rayah  Marshall, 6-3 Wing from SoCal, Ranked 27.  

Going:   Shalexxus Aaron RS Soph Wing averaged 6 points to Syracuse.   Aarika Hughes assistant coach is now the Head Coach at Loyola Marymount.   Head Coach Mark Trakh has retired.  Assistant Erin Grant has moved to Arizona.   Angel Jackson 6-5 Post who averaged 7 points and 4 rebounds.  

 

Utah:  

Coming:  Jenna Johnson, 6-2 Forward from MN,  Ranked 42,   Gianna Kneepkens, 5-10 Guard from MN,   Ines Vieira, 5-6 Guard from Portugal . 

Going:  Lola Pendande, So Post averaged  5 points, 4 rebounds to Miami of Fl.   Niyah Becker Jr Forward averaged 6 points, 4 rebounds to Wake Forest.   Ola Makurat, Post,  Grad transfer played only 3 games to Arkansas State.

 

Washington:

Coming:  New Head Coach Tina Langley.  Langley revitalized a Rice program and led it to unprecedented success in six seasons at the helm. Her winning percentage of .674 (126-61) is the best in program history, but it is not the only example of how Langley has raised the bar to record heights while at her first head-coaching stop. The Alabama native has led the Owls to their greatest five-year stretch in program history and simultaneously made Conference USA history along the way while also taking home Conference USA Coach of the Year honors in the 2018-19 season. Included in that span is an astonishing 44-4 (.916) record in conference play the last three years.   Marisa Davis 6-1 Wing from Arizona, Ranked 76, A.J.Marotte, 6-0 Wing from Texas, Ranked 63.  Avery Van Sickle, 5-10 PG from Colorado Ranked 85,   Oliva Pollerd, 6-2 Wing from Australia.   There new Assistant Coaches.  Latara King from Rice, Dan Tacheny from the NBA G league, Katie Faulkner from Oregon State.
Going:  Haley Van Dyke Jr Forward, averaged 12 points, 6 rebounds,   Tamieka Sadler Frosh Guard averaged 10 points to Colorado..   Quay Miller Soph  Post averaged 10 points and 6 rebounds to Colorado.   Nia Lowery RS Frosh Guard averaged 3 points.   

 

Washington State:   

Coming:  Leah Mafua, 5-10 Guard a JC transfer from CO and from New Zealand,   Tara Wallack, 6-2 Wing from Canada.    Krystal Leger-Walker returning for her 5^th year.
