Pac 12 Results through 12/21/21

Conference had 17 wins, 5 losses and 4 games cancelled

Stanford:  8-3   Beat UC Davis 68-42.  Lacie Hull had 10 points and 4 steals.  Brink 11 points and 10 rebounds and Hannah Jump with 17 points.   Beat Tennessee 74-63.   Five players scored in double figures.  Haley Jones with 18 points and 19 rebounds.  With Brink playing just 8 minutes, Iriafen and Prechtel had a combined 22 points and 11 rebounds in their 32 minutes.  Lost to # 1 South Carolina 65-61, as Stanford scored just 19 points in the 2nd half.  Lexie Hull had 17 points.


UCLA:  5-3   Texas Southern at UCLA was cancelled.  Game vs Ohio State cancelled and game vs Bakersfield also cancelled


Oregon:   6 -4      Beat McNeese State 109-38.   Watson and Parrish both had 21 points.    Lost to now 10-2 Kansas State 68-56.  Rogers returned and scored 14 points and Scheerr had 16 points.    Oregon’s game at Northwestern was cancelled.  


Arizona:  10-0   Beat Northern Arizona 82-55.  The Bench scored 52 of the points. 

 

Oregon State:  7-3   Beat Idaho 79-49.  Kampschroeder had 16 points.  Beat Northern Iowa 70-69.  Jones had 14 points and 9 rebounds.  


Colorado:  11-0      Beat SMU 78-55.  Miller had 20 points and Hollingshed added 19.   Beat USF 80-56.  Hollingshed had 23 points and Miller had 19 points.


Washington State:  8-3  Lost to BYU 71-53.  Charlisse Leger-Walker had 21 points.    Lost to Stony Brook, a last minute replacement for Cornell, 69-62.  Stony Brook has wins over Rutgers and St Johns.  Charlisse Leger-Walker had 19 points but 6 of 27 shooting, and 4 of 16 from three.


USC: 7-3    Beat Cal State Northridge 76-51.  Sanders had 15 points.  Beat Texas Southern 77-45.  Marshall, a Frosh had 16 points and 17 rebounds.  Game vs Long Beach State cancelled.


Cal: 9-2   Beat Cal Poly 89-73.  Curry had 27 points and Green had 20 points.  Beat St Mary’s 73-55.  Lutje Schipholt had 20 points and 10 rebounds.  Curry had 18 points.  

 

Washington:  5-3   Beat Eastern Washington 62-59.  Swartz had 18 points.  Beat Nevada 58-42.  Van Dyke had 20 points and 9 rebounds. 

 

ASU:  7-5   Beat U of San Diego 79-60.  Loville had 34 points on 12 of 15 shooting including 4 of 4 from three.  BeatUC Irvine 69-52.   Loville had 20 points.  Giles had 11 points and 12 rebounds.


Utah:  8-3   Beat Utah Valley 65-57.  Johnson had 21 points and 14 rebounds.  Lost to Oklahoma 83-76 being outscored by 18 in the 4th Qtr.  Kneephens had 19 points.  McFarland had 14 points and 11 rebounds.  Gylten had 10 assists.

Stanford:  6-2   Beat Pacific 91-62.   Brink with 25 points and 11 rebounds.  Lexie Hull with 16 points.


UCLA:  5-3    Lost to UConn 71-61.   Osborne had 26 points.  


Oregon:   5-3    Beat Long Beach 68-59.   Hurst had 19 points, 5 of 8 from three.  


Arizona:  9-0   Beat N Dakota St 59-47.  Pellington had 16 points.  Ware was injured but could be back for the first league game.  Beat New Mexico 77-60.  Reese had 14 points and 12 rebounds.  Frosh Madison Conner was 5 of 10 from three foer 15 points.  


Oregon State:  5-3   Beat Monmouth 72-58.  Von Oelhoffen had 19 points, Mitrovic had 9 points and 10 rebounds.   Lost to Villanova 56-52.  Taylor Jones didn’t play.  Mitrovic had 14 points and 13 rebounds.  


Colorado:  9-0     Beat Southern Utah 81-47.  Quay Miller had 18 points. 


Washington State:  8-1    Beat Gonzaga 51-49.  Charlisse Leger-Walker had 14 points.   Beat Boise State 62-55.   Charlisse Leger-Walker had 23 points.  


USC: 5-3    Did not play.


Cal: 7-2   Beat McNesse State 102-60.   Daniels and Curry both had 17 points.  The Cal bench scored 57 points. 


Washington:  3-3   Beat Seattle 77-59.  Griggsby had 23 points, 7 of 10 from three.  Mulkey had 8 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists.  


ASU:  5-5   Lost to Creighton 69-62.  Gillis had 18 points   


Utah:  7-2   Beat Cal State Fullerton 100-45.  Johnson had 23 points and 10 rebounds.  The Utah Bench had 42 points.

Pac-12 Results for the week ending Dec 5

Stanford:  5-2.  The Cardinal did not play as the team was off for finals.   

UCLA:  5-2   Beat SJS 112-33.  Chou had 31 points, 6 of 9 from three and 11 assists.  Thomas had 32 points.   

Oregon:   4-3   Lost at Home to UC Davis 64-57, while missing 3 starters, still a shocking loss.   Edged Portand 62-59.  Sydney Parrish had 26 points including 5 of 8 from three.    Prince added 22 points.  

Arizona:  7-0   UC Riverside had to cancel their game with Arizona.

Oregon State:  4-2   Beat UOP in the final seconds 76-72.  Talia von Oelhoffen had 18 points and Kennedy Brown had 13 rebounds.

Colorado:  8-0    Beat Dixie State 78-53.  Quay Miller had 20 points.   The Bench including Miller scored 45 points.  

Washington State:  6-1     Beat USF 72-58.  Charlisse Leger-Walker had 27 points including 5 of 10 from Three. Beat UCD 71-49 who just beat Oregon.  Balanced scored by the Cougars.

USC: 5-3    Beat UC Irvine 78-69.  Jenkins had 24 points.   Lost to USF 78-63.  Go Molly.  Jordan Sanders had 15 for USC

Cal: 6-2   Beat Fresno State in the last seconds 73-72.  Jadyn Bush 15 points and 11 rebounds, Curry also had 15 points.  Lost to Arkansas 84-67.  Curry had 18 points and Jazlen Green had 16 points.  

Washington:  2-3.  The Huskies were off for the week.

ASU:  5-4   Beat UTSA 68-44.  Beat Harvard 91-54.  Loville had 19 points and Mael Gilles had 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Utah:  6-2   Lost to # 21 BYU 85-80.  Kneepkens is proving to be one of the better Frosh in the Pac 12 as she had 29 points.

Pac 12 Results through Nov. 28th

 Stanford:  5-2   Beat # 4 Indiana 69-66 without Haley Jones, out with an ankle injury.  Brink had 21 points, 21 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks.  Belibi had 14 points.   Lost to #18 South Florida in the last seconds 57-54. Brink had 23 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks.  Brooke Demetre had 3 threes and 14 points. Jones played but was hampered by her sore ankle.    Beat # 2 Maryland 86-67.  Hannah Jump was 7 of 14 from three for 21 points.  Haley Jones had 15 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assist.  Brink had to sit out most of the game with illness, but played late.  Prechtel sat out the game with illness also.     

 

UCLA:  4-2  Lost to Kent State 75-69.  Osborne had 21 points and Penn 16 points.  Kent State shot 50%.   Lost to now 3-4 South Dakota State 76-66.  UCLA missing 6 players for both games.  Osborne and Penn both had 15 points, Thomas had 18 points.    BeatSt John’s 73-65.  Osborne with 18 points, all in the first half and 11 rebounds.  Thomas had 19 points, most in the 2nd half. 
 
 
Arizona:  7-0   Beat Vandy 48-46.  Thomas had 13 points.    BeatDePaul 75-68.  Reese had 19 points as the Wildcats shot 55%.   BeatRutgers 80-44.  Reese had 16 points and Frosh Guard Sanchez had 15 points.  The Arizona Bench scored 50 points.  


Oregon State:  3-2   Lost to Michigan 61-52.  Kennedy Brown had 12 points and 10 rebounds.  Corosdale had 11 rebounds.  Oregon State had 23 turnovers.   Lost to Notre Dame 64-62 coming back from down 16.  Former Cardinal Maya Dodson had 14 points for ND.  Oelhoffen had 25 points for the Beavers  
 
 
USC: 4-2   Beat Seton Hall 79-65.  Pili is back with 15 points, Jordyn Jenkins had 18 points and 12 rebounds.  Angel Jackson had 14 points.  Iowa at USC was cancelled.   Lost to UCF 56-47.  Alyson Miura had 12 points.  
 
 

Cal: 5-1   Beat Furman 82-73.  Curry had 26 points, Daniels had 10 rebounds and Lutje-Schipholt had 18 points and 14 rebounds.   Lostto Mississippi State 64-45.  Cal shot 23%.
 

 
Washington:  2-3   Lost to Virginia Commonwealth 60-47.    Lost to North Carolina 58-37.  Washington shot 28%.   
 
 
ASU:  3-4  Lost to Houston 68-60.  Simmons had 16 points.    Lost to # 6 Baylor 62-52.   Beat Fordham 58-43.  Simmons had 16 points and Loville had 15.   
Utah:  6-1  Lost to Gonzaga 89-71.   Gianna Kneepkens had 15 points off the bench.    Beat Hawaii 73-57.  Maxwell had 23 points, 5 of 9 from three.   Beat Eastern Illinois 93-67, scoring 34 in the first quarter.  Frosh Jenna Johnson had 22 points.  

Oregon:   3-2    Lost to South Florida 71-62 again without Paopao, Sabally and Rogers.  Parish and Hurst both scored 15 points.   Oregon had 25 turnovers.      


Colorado:  7-0      Beat Samford 81-48.  Four scored in double figures.   Beat Texas Southern 79-47.  Hollingshed had 20 points and 10 rebounds.  Frosh Kindyll Wetta had 12 points going 6 for 6.  In her previous game she had 9 assists.    Beat LA Tech 59-48.  Tuitele had 14 points.   Beat Wisconsin 67-51.  Hollingshed had 18 points and 10 rebounds.  

 

Washington State:  4-1    Beat Miami of Florida 62-47.  Teder had 15 points Charlisse Leger-Walker had 13 points and 15 rebounds.    Lostto North Carolina State 62-34 shooting just 25%.

Pac 12 Results of the Week Ending Nov 21, 2021

Stanford:  3-1    Beat U of Portland 77-55.  Haley Jones had 17 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists the first triple double at Stanford since Nicolle Powell 19 years ago.  Brink had 21 points and the Hulls had 10 steals.  

Beat Gonzaga in the last 66-62.  Made just 8 of 18 Free Throws.  Hannah jump with 14 points, 4 threes and Fran Belibi also with 14.  Haley Jones didn’t play due to undisclosed injury.

 

UCLA:  4-0   Beat Cal Sate Northridge 73-46.  Thomas had 21 points and Osborne had 19 points.  Beat Virginia 69-57, despite missing 7 players including Osborne.  Chou had 20 points and Thomas 19.  

 
 

Oregon:   3-1     Beat Oklahoma 98-93 without their starting guards.  Sabally had 30 points and 11 rebounds, Prince had 11 points and 11 rebounds.   Lost to # 1 South Carolina 80-63, playing without three starters.  

 

Arizona:  4-0.   Beat Texas Southern 93-38.  Kate Reese had 15 points and 11 rebounds.  Beat Marist 78-36 with very balanced scoring.

 

Oregon State:  3-0     Beat Cal Baptist 80-72.  Talia von Oelhoffen had 18 points and Taylor Jones had 17 Points.  Taya Corosdale had 12 rebounds.  Beat Bakersfield 82-51.  Frosh AJ Marotte had 19 points. 

 

 Colorado:  3-0    Beat Marquette 69-53.  Hollingshed had 22 points and 10 rebounds.  Sherrrod had 17 points.   


Washington State:  3-0  Beat Idaho 73-59.   Four players with 12 or 13 points.   

 

USC: 3-1   Beat Western Michigan 80-50.  USC shot 54%.  4 players scored in double figures and 2 more had 8 points.  Lost to Missouri State 67-51 shooting only 23%.

UCLA:  2-0   Beat Pepperdine 78-69.  UCLA had 6 players out.  Charisma Osborne had 24 points and IImar’l added 21 points.  Ally Stedman of Pepperdine had 28 points, 8 of 12 from three. 

 Oregon:   2-0   Beat Idaho State 91-34 without Rogers and Paopao.  Sedona Prince had 18 points.  Phillpina Kyei had 10 rebounds.   Beat Dixie State 84-35.   Ahlise Hurst scored 17 points. Kyei had 13 points and 10 rebounds.


Arizona:  2-0.   Beat Cal State Northridge 87-44.  Aaronette Vonleh had 14 points, 7 of 8 from the floor.  Kate Reese also had 14 points. Beat # 6 Louisville 61-59 in OT.  Cate Reese had 21 points 3 of 5 from three.   Arizona had 16 assists on 22 made shots.  Teamwork.

Washington State:  2-0    Beat San Jose State 86-56.  Bella Mukekatete had 22 points as did Charlisse Leger-Walker.  Beat Northern Arizona 62-54.  Charlisse Leger-Walker had 22 points and Bella Mukekatete had 13 points and 15 rebounds. 

 

USC: 2-0   Beat Hawaii 90-50.  Grad Transfer Jordan Sanders scored 17 and Frosh Rayah Marshall  had 15 points and 9 rebounds.    Beat Virginia 65-48.  Marshall had 16 points and three others scored in double figures.  Pili didn’t play.
 

 

Cal: 2-0   Beat Sacramento State 90-71.  Daniels out with a back problem.  Jayda had 23 points, 9 of 22 from the floor and Evelien Lutje-Schipholt had 20 points and 11 rebounds.  Beat USF 70-41.  Curry had 27 points. 

 

Washington:  2-0   Beat U of San Diego 57-51.   Haley Van Dyke had 12 points and 10 rebounds.    Beat Northern Arizona 72-65.  Van Dyke had 19 points. 

 

ASU:  1-1    Beat Northern Colorado 71-41.  Jade Loville had 18 points.  Lost to Minnesota 66-59.   Maggie Besselink had 15 rebounds.  Jade Loville had 15 points and Taya Hanson had 16 points.

 

Utah:  2-0   Beat Lipscomb 105-56.  Brynna Maxwell had 24 points, 5 of 10 from three.  The Utah bench scored about half the points.   Beat Xavier 106-71.   Frosh Jenna Johnson and Brynna  Maxwell each had 21 while Kennady  McQueen had 20 points.

Pac 12 Preview: UCLA

The UCLA Roster  

  

Last Season:  UCLA was 17-6 last season and 12-4 in conference play.   


The Coaches:  Cori Close is in her 11th season as the Head Coach.

Close is averaging 21 wins per year.    She went to HS in the San Jose area.

Shannon Perry-LaBeauf is in her 11th year and  she coached at Duke for 5 seasons.  

Tony Newnan like the others is in his 11th season.  

Tasha Brown is in her 4th season at UCLA.   

 

Losses:

Michaela Onyenwere averaged  19 points and 7 rebounds.   

Lindsey Corsaro averaged 5 points and 3 rebounds

Lauren Miller averaged 7 points and 5 rebounds. 

 

Additions:

Isobel Anstey, 6-4 Frosh Post from Australia.  She was supposed to play last season but couldn’t get a VISA at the time.  

Gina Conti, 5-10 Grad Transfer from Wake Forest.  Conti started every game her last three seasons and last season average 14 points and almost 5 assists.  

Iimar’l Thomas, 5-10 Wing from Cincinnati.  Went to HS in SF, from Oakland.   Last season Thomas averaged 24 points and 7 rebounds and was league POY.

Angelia Dugalic, 6-4 Post a transfer from Oregon.   Angelia averaged 3 points and 4 rebounds.  She was ranked # 22 out of HS.  

Jaelynn Penn, 5-10 Guard a Grad Transfer from Indiana.  Last season Penn averaged 9 points and 4 rebounds.   She started every game but one in her 4 year Indiana career. 

 

The Schedule:   UConn and Ohio State are the tougher games. 

 

The Team:

Charisma Osborne, 5-9 Jr Guard who averaged 17 points, 6 rebounds

Natalie Chou is a 5th year 6-1 Guard who averaged 10 points, and made 39% of her threes.  

Emily Bessoir, 6-4 Soph Post from Germany, who averaged 7 points and 5 rebounds.  SADLY out for the year with a knee injury.   

Chantel Horvat is a 6-2 5th year Wing from Australia who averaged 6 points and 4 rebounds per game.   

Guard Kayla Owens is a 6-1 Redshirt SR Guard who sat out last season.  

Kiara Jefferson is a 5-9 Sr Guard who sat out last season.

Darius Davis-Onu is a 5-9 Soph Grad who graduated from HS early and averaged 2 points.

Domin Camryn Brown, 5-10 Soph Guard who averaged 2 points and 4 rebounds. 

Brynn Masikewich, 6-3 Redshirt Jr Forward from Canada who didn’t Sat out with an injury this past season 

 

Predictions:  

Conti as a Point Guard and Osborne as the 2 Guard are on national watch list.   Dugalic, Thomas and Chou should should round out the starting five.   However both Conti and Dugalic will be out for several weeks.  Sadly.

Pac 12 Preview: Washington

2021-22 Washington Roster

 

Last Year:   7-14 overall and 3-13 in league play.    

 

Coaches:

Jody Wynn and the Staff were released after the season.    So an all new Staff.

Tina Langley

Tina Langley is the new Head Coach after 6 great seasons at Rice and before that 7 seasons as an Assistant at Maryland.    She was 126-61 at Rice.   Langley has two Masters Degrees.  

 

Katie Faulkner comes for Oregon State where she was an Assistant for 5 years.   Faulkner played at Montana where she was an outstanding player.   She will also be the Recruiting Coordinator.  

 

Dan Tacheny is new to Women’s Basketball having coached Men, most recently in the NBA G League.

 

LaTara King comes from Rice with Langley, having coached there the past 3 seasons and before that at Boston College.  

 

 

Losses:  

Quay Miller who averaged 10 points and 6 rebounds transferred to Colorado

 

Tamelya Sadler who averaged 10 points and shot 45% transferred to Colorado

 

Khayla Rooks averaged 5 points and 3 rebounds transferred to UNLV

 

AJ Marotte, ranked # 63 decomitted after the coaching changing and is now at Oregon State

 

 

Additions:  

 

Lauren Schwartz, 5-11 Jr Wing who transferred from Rice.  At Rice she started every game in her two years and averaged 11 points and 4 rebounds.   She shot 42% from three this past year.


Nancy Mulkey, 6-9 Sr Post who transferred from Rice.   This will be Mulkey’s  6th

College year, one year a redshirt transfer season Oklahoma to Rice.    This past season she averaged 16 points, 8 rebounds and 3.5 blocks while shooting 57%. 

 

Olivia Pollerd, 6-2 Frosh Forward from Australia who has played the past three years on their  U20, U 19 and U 16 teams.

 

Trinity Oliver, 5-9 Sr Guard who transferred from Baylor.  Last season at Baylor she started 28 games averaged 4 points.  

 

Avery Vansickle, 5-10 Guard from Colorado ranked # 85

 

Marisa Davis-Jones, 6-1 Wing from Arizona, Ranked # 76

 

  

Schedule:  Games against North Carolina and Louisville stand out.  

 


The Returning Team:

 

Haley Van Dyke is a 6-1 Sr Forward.   Last season Haley averaged 12 points and 6 rebounds and 2 steals.  

 

Missy Peterson is a 5-11 Redshirt Sr Guard from Washington.   Two seasons ago Missy averaged 7 points and led the team with 37 threes at 35%.   Missy missed last season with an ACL.  

 

Darcy Rees is a 6-4 Sr Post from Australia.   Last season Rees averaged 8 points and 3 rebounds.

 

Nia Lowery is a 5-9 Redshirt Soph Guard from Sacramento.  Both parents played College basketball.   Mom at Oregon State.   Nia averaged 3 points last season 

 

Alexis Griggsby is a 5-9 5th year SR Guard from SoCal who averaged 6 points last season.  

 

Tyiona Watkins is a 6-0 Redshirt Jr Guard who averaged 5 points two years ago and opted out last season. . 

 

Jess Finley 5-10 Soph/Frosh Wing from Arizona, Ranked 94 who graduated early from HS and averaged 1 points. 

 

Jayda Noble, 5-10 Soph Guard WA She is the sister of former UConn star Gabby Williams.  Last season she averaged 4 points.  

 

Alexis Whitfield, 6-2 Soph Forward averaged 4 points. 

 

  

Predictions:  

Mulkey and Swartz will be the main players and getting Peterson back 100% will be a big help to go with the returning Van Dyke.  With their recruiting and new coaching this seems to be a team on the rise.

Pac 12 Preview: Washington State

The 2021-22 Washington State Roster 

Last Year:

12-12 for the year and 9-10 in conference play.   The Cougars made the NCAA and lost by just 4 in their first game.  

Coaches:

Kamie Ethridge is in her 4th year as Head Coach.   Ethridge was the Head

Coach at Northern Colorado for 4 seasons averaging 21 wins and making the NCAAs this past season.   She was an Assistant for 18 years at Kansas State.   Kamie won a Gold Medal for USA Basketball at the 1988 Olympics then won an NCAA Championship as a Player at Texas.

Jason Chainey is in his 3nd year after coaching in the Women’s pro league in his native Australia.  

Laurie Koehn is in her 4th year and came from Northern Colorado after three years with Ethridge.   She played professionally for 11 years.  

Camille Williams is in her 23nd year at Washington State.  She was the Head Coach at Academy of Art is San Francisco last season and before that nine years at Nevada.   He was a two sport star at Wisconsin, basketball and the High Jump.  

Losses:    

Cherilyn Molina who averaged 6 points.   

Celena Molina who didn’t play much last season. 

 

Additions:

Tara Wallack, 6-2 Wing from Canada.   Tara played on the Canadian U19 team.  

 

 Schedule:   Gonzaga, North Carolina State, BYU and Miami of Florida top the non-conference schedule.

Johanna Teder, 5-8  Jr originally from Estonia.  Last season she averaged 8 points.  

Ula Motuga is a 6-0 Sr Forward from Australia who averaged 8 points and 7rebounds.   

Emma Nankervis is a 6-3 Jr Post from Australia.   Last season she averaged 2 points.

Grace Sarver is a 5-8 Jr Guard who averaged 2 points. 

Shir Levy is a 5-11 Sr Guard from Israel who didn’t play much last season.  

Michaela Jones is a 5-10 Redshirt Jr Guard who averaged 2 points. season. 

Jessica Clarke, 6-3 Soph Post from British Canada who averaged one point and one rebound.  

Zeynep “Ekin” Çelikdemir, 5-10 Soph G, originally from Turkey.  She played one game last season

 

Predictions:

Hard to believe the Cougars could finish as high as their 2021 Finish at 7th Place.  However the Leger-Walker sisters are outstanding.
